Illinois Shotokan Karate Club is Chicagoland’s premier karate school taught under the instruction of John DiPasquale. Young children develop confidence, strength, and coordination skills through fun and creative classes. This program is specifically designed for growing minds and bodies to enhance memory and agility. Watch your child’s confidence blossom while learning karate and having a blast at the same time! Does your child love to act, sing and dance? Then this is the class to sign up for. Your child will discover the possibilities using their skills and imagination. They will rehearse and perform a monologue, scene and a musical theatre number in the last class. They will explore characters, theater vocabulary, voice, and movement. This is a great class for the beginning actors as well as the experienced actors who want to build performance skills and confidence on stage. Come see what BPD theatre company is all about!

We meet on weekends to explore Bolingbrook Park District parks and trails, welcoming walkers of all levels. Whether you’re here for fitness, fresh air, or friendly faces, this is a space to unplug, stretch your legs, and start your weekend on a positive note. Testing is done late Spring and Early Fall and is required in order to enroll as a new member of the team.
Parents are required to attend our annual mandatory meeting. Team leotards, warm ups, grips, meet fees and tape are additional fees beyond class registration.

Is your toddler climbing on everything they can reach and never seem to be out of energy? This is an adult participatory class where our instructors will guide you and your child through introductory gymnastics skills each week using small bars, floor beams, tiny springboards, an array of skill blocks and octagons as well as our TumblTrak. They will develop their balance, gross motor skills, hand, foot & eye coordination, as well as increase their strength, flexibility, social skills, and confidence.

Your child will develop coordination, strength, balance and confidence. Tumblers will learn the following skills: forward and backward rolls, straddle roll, lunge to handstand, cartwheel, bridges, splits and various jumps using tumbling equipment and our TumblTrak.

Then we will move into scorekeeping with individual tournament matches and doubles tournament matches. In an organized, yet playful structure, this parent and tot class is the perfect way to socialize your child, allow them to learn and understand what it means to follow instruction, and of course, get them moving! These classes follow our Ninja theme,(of course, and the skills required to master the course include fundamental movement, coordination, fine and gross motor skill development, and our NinjaZone character-building component. Little Learners classes provide children with opportunities to socialize,
overcome separation anxiety and be creative all while enjoying their first
classroom experience. Time together begins with open play followed by
clean-up and ending with a group activity time. Children will interact with
age-appropriate toys, have sensory encounters, create both process and
product-based art and participate in music/movement activities. The
curriculum is based on the Illinois Early Learning Guidelines for Children
Birth to Age Three.

In five week sessions, learn and practice the basic techniques of one of the most popular dances, Chicago-Style Stepping. It’s a great, feel-good work out, and a chance to have fun at the same time. Basic steps and combinations, floor etiquette, turns and partnering will be covered in this 2-hour class in a festive atmosphere. Pre-Ballet is the perfect class for this age, both mentally and physically. Class includes a thorough warm-up, proper stretching and the continuous development of the basics of ballet. There is no pre-requisite for this class.

Let’s have fun trying out different super hero powers by using science. We will turn things invisible like the Invisible Girl, make things super stretchy like Mr. Fantastic, build different gadgets and prototypes like Iron Man, and so much more. Each day we meet we will cover a new super hero power and we will have take home experiments as well. So what are you waiting for… let’s try out those scientific powers.
This fun and upbeat class inspires creativity and teaches the fundamentals of hip hop. Students will develop coordination, strength, dance technique, rhythm, and body awareness in a caring, exciting, nurturing environment. This class is an excellent way for children to be introduced to the many benefits of the performing arts.

This class combines imaginative play, singing, acting, and movement to introduce and establish the building blocks of the performing arts, foster creativity, and nurture self-esteem. Through songs, musical theatre games, stories and dance, these budding performers learn in a playful and creative environment. Through positive and imaginative class experiences, these young performers develop confidence in singing, acting and dancing, strengthen their skills and have fun!
It is never too late to learn to be graceful! Improve your flexibility, poise and posture. Relieve stress, burn calories and have fun at the same time through this peaceful and relaxing dance style. Beginning levels of dance will be taught during this class and will include a technical warm up, barre work and center work with combinations, all specific and appropriate to the level of training.

Are you ready to take the next step in your ballet training? In Pre-Pointe you will do exercises and training to prepare yourself to go onto pointe. Previous ballet experience and enrollment in our Intermediate Ballet class is required to participate in this class.

Bend, stretch, point and flex. The grace of ballet and flexibility of tumbling come together in this energetic class. Basic skills will be taught using engaging props in a fun and interactive environment.

Hip Hop dance incorporates a variety of old and new urban, street, and pop dance styles. This dance style represents body movements that go with the beat and rhythm of the music. This class is a fun, fast paced and high energy class that focuses on rhythmic dancing, cardio, and may include floor work. Hip hop dance is very dynamic and helps the dancers improve flexibility, develop body balance, and coordination.

Ages 6-15 years
Develop your child’s intellect through the royal game of chess. Research shows a strong link between chess and academic performance in a variety of areas, including mathematics and language arts. Chess helps enhance children’s motivation, concentration, focus, social skills, and creativity. Each class includes a fun, interactive lesson followed by guided practice time. Both beginner and experienced players are welcome.
Stretch and become more limber as your body develops the tools that it needs to become stronger. This is a way to correctly learn how to train your body to become pliable safely. Learn to relax, breathe correctly, and enjoy your time in class. In this one hour of active stretching you will burn between 240-356 calories. You will go through a series of floor and dance barre stretches to assist you in reaching any goals you may have.
