Little Learners classes provide children with opportunities to socialize, overcome separation anxiety and be creative all while enjoying their first classroom experience. Time together begins with open play followed by clean-up and ending with a group activity time. Children will interact with age-appropriate toys, have sensory encounters, create both process and product-based art and participate in music/movement activities. The curriculum is based on the Illinois Early Learning Guidelines for Children Birth to Age Three.

The American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training with Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED – BL course prepares youth to care for children and infants safely and confidently. It includes hands-on activities videos and discussions to develop essential real-life readiness babysitting skills. The course covers feeding, diapering, picking up and holding children safety and emergency response. We want to prepare participants well for emergencies, but CPR can be physically demanding and participants should ideally weigh at least 85-90 pounds to participate. The First Aid/CPR/AED Blended Learning course includes an online portion and an instructor-led classroom skill session. The online portion must be completed prior to attending the in-person training and must be taken on a PC or tablet with a high-speed Internet connection. Allow approximately 2 hours to complete the online portion. Upon successful completion of both the online and in person portions of the course a valid 10-year Babysitter’s Training digital certification and a valid 2-year digital certificate for Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED is issued.

Suggested Gymnastics Attire

Competition takes place from January through May as part of the AAU; Gymnastics of Illinois Junior Organization (GIJO). It is a great way to prepare your child for high school gymnastics within the park district or at their high school. Testing is done late Spring and Early Fall and is required in order to enroll as a new member of the team.

Parents are required to attend our annual mandatory meeting. Team leotards, warm ups, grips, meet fees and tape are additional fees beyond class registration.

Children will learn skills on vault, uneven bars, beam, and floor in a safe and controlled atmosphere. Children will learn skills on vault, uneven bars, beam, and floor in a safe and controlled atmosphere. Children will spend a small portion of class time conditioning and strengthening the appropriate muscles to help improve their gymnastics skills. Children who are new to gymnastics should enroll in a Developmental I class. Former students should enroll in the class level instructed by their coach on their class recommendation sheet. Participants may be asked to transfer to the appropriate level class.

Suggested Gymnastics Attire
Please wear a leotard or comfortable pants/shorts. No jeans, jean shorts, or any other type of clothing with buttons or buckles which could be harmful to your child or the equipment. We require long hair to be tied back and out of face. No shoes, earrings, bracelets or necklaces are allowed. Socks are optional, but not recommended for medium/high beam.

This fast paced, high energy class is designed to help your Ninja explore the true power they possess. It combines Gymnastics, Martial Arts, Obstacle Training and Freestyle Movement all into one sport. We focus on building confidence, respect, listening skills, goal setting, strength, agility, flexibility and creatively using their energy. Each Ninja is required to purchase a uniform package prior to the start of class which includes a t-shirt and headband signifying their level. Ninjas should wear their uniform consistently once it is received. Levels are white, yellow, green and blue. Children who are new to the Ninja program should enroll in white.
