Kai Wahlgren, CPRP

Kai Wahlgren has served in the field of parks and recreation since 1997. Currently he serves as the Director of Recreation for the Bolingbrook Park District. After graduating from Illinois State University in 1995, Wahlgren began his career in the field of special event management working for Chicago Event Management, which produced the Chicago Marathon among other running races in the Chicagoland area. Kai Wahlgren began his career in Parks and Recreation as an Athletics Supervisor for the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District in 1997. He then moved to the Bolingbrook Park District in 2000 where he has held three different positions; Athletic Supervisor, Program/Facility Manager, Superintendent of Recreation, and Director of Recreation. Throughout his career, Wahlgren has served on several committees at IPRA, including Recreation Section, Facility Section, and as a representative for the IPRA Certification Board. Wahlgren is firm believer in giving back to his community and helping to shape the lives of young people. He serves as a scout leader, volunteers at his community high school and has enjoyed coaching all youth sports his two children participated in at the park district growing up.
