The Creative Writing Club is designed to ignite the imaginations of young writers, foster a love for language and inspire creative expression in a fun, supportive environment. Through the exploration of classic literature, inspiring writing prompts, creative language games and collaborative storytelling, students will:

Are you ready to take the next step in your ballet training? In Pre-Pointe you will do exercises and training to prepare yourself to go onto pointe. Previous ballet experience and enrollment in our Intermediate Ballet class is required to participate in this class.

Add extra learning into your child’s day while providing time to socialize and eat with friends. This hour of activity includes a 15 minute snack break (snack provided by park district) and 45 minutes of academic enrichment. All themes include practice time with pencils and scissors.

This is a monthly, hands-on class designed to develop leadership, teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills through outdoor and adventure-based activities. Throughout the course, students will learn how to set goals, assess risks, reflect on experiences, and support others in achieving success. Whether navigating a trail or solving a group challenge, students will be encouraged to step outside their comfort zones and build confidence in themselves and their peers. In this session, students will engage and learn skills in:
1. Orienteering (1 hour – January 14)
2. Wilderness First Aid (1 hour – February 11)
3. Knot Tying and Rock Climbing (1.5 hours – March 11)
This class is ideal for students interested in leadership, physical activity, the outdoors, or anyone looking to challenge themselves in a supportive, team-oriented setting. No prior experience is necessary – Just a willingness to participate, try new things, and grow through adventure.
The LEGO Robotics Academy is a comprehensive program where children learn to design, build and program projects based on LEGO Education robotics. Using a creative educational approach that supports Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), this class uses teacher-led instruction followed by fun, engaging, and dynamic activities. Students are introduced to basic robotics and mechanical engineering concepts by building and coding a different project each week. Creative challenges are given to students as they progress through levels. The Robotics Academy is a repeatable program where children are placed based on skill and experience. Students move up a level each time they take the class. A basic knowledge of using a computer is recommended.

Be a part of the “Outstanding Program of the Year” awarded by the Illinois Park and Recreation Association – the Power Dance Project! Power Dance takes place right after school. Never danced before? No problem! We accept and train all levels. This program is very athletic, using the basic fundamentals of dance with the latest dance moves and styles. Students will learn new and creative ways to express their emotion and transform their energy into a creative outlet. This class will participate in our May Dance Concert. A $30.00 May Concert fee is included in the class cost.

Both competitive and recreational leagues for volleyball players of all skill levels. Enjoy friendly competition, exercise and a night of socializing with your team. Each league will play a 12-game season and conclude with a single elimination playoff. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top teams. Using a tablet or device, students will learn to play familiar tunes through color, letter and note matching, while also developing critical problem-solving skills. But this is more than just matching notes-students will gain real musical knowledge, including:

Stretch and become limber as you body develops the tools that are needed to become a stronger you. Correctly learn how to become limber. Learn to relax and breathe correctly. In one hour of active stretching you will burn between 240-356 calories. You will go through a series of floor and dance barre stretches to assist you in reaching any goals you may have.

This is the season where we like to keep our body cozy and indulge our taste buds. Children can bring in their favorite blankets to enjoy a fun and engaging bilingual story. The story will be followed by incorporating an art craft, music, puppets, finger plays, scavenger hunts and even games. Your child will have fun and be comfortable while building positive bilingual literacy skills. Snack will be provided by Park District.
Treat your kids (and yourself) to a fun night out. Kids will enjoy an evening of toy play, arts and crafts, active party games and pizza. Each party will feature a different theme. Children can wear pajamas or play clothes. Cheese pizza and water will be served, please inform Christy Sorenson of any food allergies.
Ballroom dance is an enchanting style of partnered dance that features an array of formal and social dances. Performed in ballrooms and other social environments, it includes a diverse range of genres, such as waltz, tango, foxtrot, quickstep, cha-cha, and many others. In this class you will learn beginner to intermediate level ballroom dance technique and be introduced to a variety of ballroom dance genres. Individuals and couples are welcome, price is per person.
This program offers your child valuable opportunities to practice important skills such as writing, using scissors, walking in a line, and sitting attentively during group time. In addition, your child will develop essential social skills like listening and following instructions-helping them transition smoothly and confidently into the upcoming school year. Looking for childcare on days off school? We have you covered! Participants will bring a sack lunch, two snacks, a swim suit, towel and a water bottle. Activities include: arts and crafts, games, sports, music, playground (weather dependent) and swimming at Pelican Harbor Indoor Pool.
Take an afternoon and create a unique ceramic piece. You will use various glazes and learn new techniques, while enjoying a fun afternoon. All supplies will be furnished. Round plate pieces will be fired after class and will be available for pick-up the following week at the Bolingbrook Recreation & Aquatic Complex.

*How to read crochet patterns and abbreviations
*Understanding yarn weights, types, and labels

All materials and gadgets are provided on the first day for use in class.

Get ready to discover, create, and explore! In our hands-on STEAM Club, your child becomes the scientist each session. Every meeting features a new, exciting experiment – from volcanic eruptions and slime-making to rainbow foam, exploding geysers, and colorful bath bombs. At the end of each club, students bring home what they’ve made – a fun reminder of their scientific adventures! We can’t wait to see your future scientists there.

Drop the kids off for a playdate so you can take a few hours to yourself. Activities for the 4-7 age group will include a movie, crafting, and games. Activities for the 7-12 age group will include one hour at Pelican Harbor Indoor Aquatic Park and a movie. All children must be able to meet their own toileting needs and change their clothes without assistance. Please send your child with a water bottle and a lunchbox meal, as no concessions are available.

It is never too late to learn to swim!
Beginner classes are designed for participants with minimal to no formal swimming experience, or who may be working to overcome a fear of the water. Classes will focus on building up your confidence and comfort in the water while practicing water safety skills. These skills include air exchange/breathing, floating, treading, and the foundations of the strokes.
Intermediate classes are designed for participants who are comfortable in the water and have experience with the foundational swimming skills (air exchange, floating, kicking, streamline). Classes will focus on the strokes, improving your technique and endurance.
Children will learn skills on vault, uneven bars, beam, and floor in a safe and controlled atmosphere. Children will spend a small portion of class time conditioning and strengthening the appropriate muscles to help improve their gymnastics skills. Children who are new to gymnastics should enroll in a Developmental I class. Students who have taken gymnastics should enroll in the class level instructed by their coach on their class recommendation sheet. Children may be asked to transfer to the appropriate level class.
Suggested Gymnastics Attire
Please wear a leotard or comfortable pants/shorts. No jeans, jean shorts, or any other type of clothing with buttons or buckles which could be harmful to your child or the equipment. We require long hair to be tied back and out of face. No shoes, earrings, bracelets or necklaces are allowed. Socks are optional, but not recommended for beam.

Please note: Children who are enrolled in the Bolingbrook Park District morning preschool can be picked up from their classroom and escorted to the Fun Friday event. Parents of children not enrolled in the park district preschool must remain in the building during class.

Ages 11-16 years
The American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training with Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED – BL course prepares youth to care for children and infants safely and confidently. It includes hands-on activities videos and discussions to develop essential real-life readiness babysitting skills. The course covers feeding, diapering, picking up and holding children safety and emergency response. We want to prepare participants well for emergencies, but CPR can be physically demanding and participants should ideally weigh at least 85-90 pounds to participate. The First Aid/CPR/AED Blended Learning course includes an online portion and an instructor-led classroom skill session. The online portion must be completed prior to attending the in-person training and must be taken on a PC or tablet with a high-speed Internet connection. Allow approximately 2 hours to complete the online portion. Upon successful completion of both the online and in person portions of the course a valid 10-year Babysitter’s Training digital certification and a valid 2-year digital certificate for Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED is issued.

Get the team together play in the men’s 8 on 8 USFTL sanctioned flag football league. Each league will play a 9-game season and conclude with a single elimination playoff.
