Our GYMNASTICS
program features fun, safe, professional, and individualized instruction.

Bolingbrook Park Districts’s successful and popular gymnastics program allows kids to begin as early as 18 months old and be introduced to this exciting and energetic sport that develops confidence, strength, flexibility, coordination and balance. Gymnasts ages 6-14 years, can become part of the Bolingbrook Illusions Gymnastics Team, that competes in Amateur Athlete Union (AAU) certified events January through May.

The gymnastics department also offers programs specifically for cheer. Tumbling and stunting is a key component for cheerleading. Our team of instructors is here to help develop your child’s cheer skills.

Developmental Classes focus on skills required for:

  • Floor Exercise

  • Uneven Bars

  • Balance Beam

  • Vault

Suggested Gymnastics Attire

A leotard or comfortable pants or shorts are appropriate for classes. No jeans, jean shorts or any other type of clothing with buttons or buckles allowed. These can be harmful to your child or the equipment. Bolingbrook Park District does have leotards available for purchase. Leotards may be purchased at the Annerino Community Center during class times.

211200 / Cheerleading Level 1

This is a non-competitive, introductory class for younger athletes. This class will teach the basics of cheerleading and build confidence, strength, coordination and flexibility. Jumps, hand motions, tumbling, stunting and a cheer will be taught, as well as the importance of teamwork. Clean gym shoes must be worn in this class and hair must be tied back neatly out of face. No jewelry allowed for safety reasons.

Is your toddler climbing on everything they can reach and never seem to be out of energy? This is a parent participatory class where our instructors will guide you and your child through introductory gymnastics skills each week using small bars, floor beams, tiny springboards, an array of skill blocks and octagons as well as our inflatable Air Trak. They will develop their balance, gross motor skills, hand, foot & eye coordination, as well as increase their strength, flexibility, social skills and confidence. TDP, GMN

The exciting world of gymnastics: where their energy will be transformed into tons of fun on vault, bars, beam and floor. Confidence is a major focus in our classes, as we guide each child to achieve their greatest individual potential. Development of strength, balance, coordination and flexibility are built into every lesson. We offer a safe, fun, clean atmosphere with complete viewing for our parents. Preschool One is for children who are new to gymnastics and is commonly repeated. Please make sure that children are potty-trained and out of diapers. Beginning Tumbling is a fast-paced class that develops coordination, strength, flexibility, balance and self-confidence. Beginning Tumbling is for children that are new to tumbling. Intermediate Tumbling will provide new challenges for our students once they have mastered the basics and encourage them to advance beyond beginning tumbling. Tumbling skills introduced will include handstand forward rolls, round offs, back walkovers, back handspring shaping drills, and back handsprings. Classes are taught in a fun yet focused manner, encouraging students to achieve higher-level skills. Coaches’ recommendation is required.

It is a great way to prepare your child for high school gymnastics within the park district or at their high school. Testing is done late Spring and Early Fall and is required in order to enroll as a new member of the team.

Parents are required to attend our annual mandatory meeting. Team leotards, warm ups, grips, meet fees and tape are additional fees beyond class registration.
