Invasive Brush Mowing September 23-27

Invasive Brush Mowing September 23-27 The Bolingbrook Park District’s Natural Resources department will be performing invasive brush mowing at several of our naturalized areas from Monday, September 23 until Friday, September 27. The goal of this project is to efficiently remove dense sections of invasive and aggressive shrub and tree species such as honeysuckle, buckthorn, multiflora rose, and boxelder. Care is taken to protect native trees and desirable shrub species during the mowing process. Bolingbrook Park District

The Bolingbrook Park District is a public park and recreation agency located in Bolingbrook, Illinois, a large community of 76,272 in Chicago’s southwest suburbs…just 25 miles from the city. We operate two community centers, an indoor/outdoor aquatic park, golf course, banquet facility and restaurant, a fitness center, two outdoor skate parks, a sports complex, conservation area, and 50 parks along with their many playgrounds, picnic shelters and more over 1,106 acres of land. All these amenities available within a village that’s grown into one of the nation’s Top 100 Cities to Live (Money Magazine).

Dan Finn

Dan Finn

Natural Resources, Horticulture & Turf Manager

Daniel manages our Natural Resources, Horticulture and Turf Management teams. His degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago in Earth and Environmental Sciences along with his background in environmental restoration has prepared him for the job here in Bolingbrook where he has served for almost five years. His department manages about 1,100 acres of land, 400 of which are natural areas. A typical day for Dan includes coordinating his staff, distributing assignments and making sure crews have what they need to do their jobs. He visits five to ten sites per day.

When Dan’s not at work he enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and two sons. You may see his boys enjoying a variety of park district offerings such as Ninjas and soccer.
